-
Floor barre is a ballet‑inspired, mat‑based practice done entirely on the floor. It uses slow, precise movements to improve hip alignment, turnout mechanics, core strength, and joint control—without the impact of standing work.
-
Not at all. Floor barre benefits beginners and non‑dancers by teaching clean movement patterns, and it helps dancers refine technique, turnout, and control.
-
Pilates emphasizes core and spinal mechanics; yoga emphasizes flows and flexibility. Floor barre is alignment‑first and ballet‑specific: hip rotation, foot/ankle articulation, and turnout control with strict precision.
-
A yoga mat and some clear floor space. I’ll bring small props if needed (mini‑bands, yoga blocks, sliders).
-
Yes—safely. We build external rotation strength and range through controlled, pain‑free positions, then integrate it into relevant patterns (retiré, développé mechanics, etc.).
-
Most clients can participate with modifications. We’ll screen first and avoid provocative ranges. If you’re under medical care, get clearance and share any restrictions.
-
Comfortable, form‑fitting clothing so we can see alignment at the hips, knees, and ankles. Socks or bare feet are fine.
-
1–2 sessions/week works for most. Dancers in season often add short home drills (10–15 minutes) between sessions.
-
I offer floor barre in‑home across Tulsa, Jenks, Bixby, and Broken Arrow, on‑location (studio or office), or at MySide Fitness in Tulsa.
-
Absolutely. Many clients pair floor barre with Relevé strength and mobility sessions for faster carryover to everyday movement (and dance).
